Chuck E. Cheese and Jesus

Chuck E. Cheese and Jesus. Not quite as catchy as Pat Green's "John Wayne and Jesus," huh?

On Valentine's Day, Riley and I went to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese. His first visit. Not my first, but it had been YEARS! We're playing, having a good time, and he's loving Chuck E. (so glad he wasn't terrified) and wants to go on stage with him! We're sitting at a table eating pizza and he leans over and says, "Mommy, I see Jesus!" "What?" I reply as I'm looking for a long-haired, bearded man in the sea of people at Chuck E. Cheese. I didn't see anyone who resembled the stereo-typical Jesus.

"Where is he?" Riley points across the room and says, "Over there." I'm still puzzled but great with the fact that Jesus would be at Chuck E. Cheese with us on a Saturday afternoon!! My first thougt (well, actually probably second or third) was that Jesus was there watching Michael while we celebrated his brothers' birthdays.

My dear friend's youngest son, Michael, has been having seisures. Seisures that are affecting his development. They've gone through many doctors, met new doctors, dieted, tested, medicated, MRI'd and trying to find something to make his (and his parents) life a little easier.

After the party, we jumped in the car and I asked Riley if he had fun at the party. "Yes," he said, "I like to play with my friends. And I saw Jesus." I was honestly surprised that he remembered.

We returned home, I headed to the grocery store and left Riley home with his dad. When I returned, I asked Riley if he told Daddy all about his birthday party. "Yes, and that I saw Jesus" he said.

Since the party, we've seen several commercials for Chuck E. Cheese--now known as the place Riley saw Jesus. He talks about it whenever he sees the commercials. Not the mouse. Or the games. Or the carousel. Or the light saber gifts.

A couple of weeks after the party, I talked with Michael's mother and found out that he was put on new mediciation that is working wonderfully for him. He was having 20 seisures a day and with the new medication it is doing to a few. Even one.

Jesus was at Chuck E. Cheese watching our little Michael, keeping him safe and warm. God is amazing!

And that, my friend, is why the Bible tells us to have faith like a child!
